The Idea Lab supports your teaching with in-class digital fluency sessions customized to suit your course and your students’ needs. We teach sessions focusing on the creation of digital media for alternative, authentic assignments that differ from traditional essays or research papers.
In addition to these in-class workshops, the Idea Lab offers studio spaces at North and Lakeshore campuses that are available to all Guelph-Humber students (regardless of their program), online tutorials and resources, as well as support via email and online appointments.
If you are interested in having someone from the Idea Lab provide an in-class workshop, it is best to book these sessions in advance, especially at the busiest times of the semester. We find that Idea Lab sessions work best 2-3 weeks before an assignment is due, but after the students have been introduced to the assignment requirements and begun their research.
Sessions last approximately 90 minutes and teach digital fluency skills, such as:
Creating Infographics
Creating Simple Websites
Recording and Editing Podcasts
Creating and Delivering Presentations
Creating Digital Posters
Creating Live Action Videos
Creating Animated Videos
3D Printing
