Instructor Guide to Library Services

Request a Library Research Session

Library Services supports your teaching with in-class information literacy sessions customized to suit your course and your students’ needs.  Librarians teach sessions targeted to research for a specific assignment.  It is best to book these sessions in advance, especially at the busiest times of the semester.  These sessions work best a few weeks before an assignment is due, but after the students have been introduced to the assignment requirements.

Sessions last approximately 30 minutes and teach library research skills, such as:

  • Navigating the library’s resources
  • Choosing a topic & developing a search strategy
  • Finding journal articles; finding and requesting books & eBooks
  • Evaluating sources
  • Citation styles

To request a session, please complete the Library Session Request form.

After each library session, students are asked to complete a brief survey about the session. This snapshot shows responses from the fall semester library sessions.
