Subject Terms
A great tool to improve your searching is to use subject terms. Database may use different words for subject terms such as:
- descriptors
- subject terms
- MeSH terms
- Thesaurus (a place to search for subject terms)
Whatever it is called, a subject terms is what is called 'controlled vocabulary'. That means that there is only one term for each concept. Search the subject terms (thesaurus, descriptors, MeSH terms) to find what term that database uses for your concept and search with that term. You will get great, targeted results using subject terms.
